Skin AI-based Frailty Scoring for Early Health Insights and Risk-Stratification

Motivation

Skin frailty makes the skin more vulnerable to bruising, tearing, and delayed wound healing and affects around 30% of adults aged 65 and older. It is also associated with other age-related conditions such as osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegenerative disorders. However, no standardized digital tool currently exists to objectively assess skin frailty. This project will evaluate the market, regulatory, and technical feasibilty of an AI-assisted tool for automated skin frailty assessment.

Goals and Approach

To assess the feasibilty of an AI-assisted Skin Frailty Assessment tool, the project team will evaluate the U.S. market, technology and regulatory environment. This includes market and competition analysis, identification of user needs and potential partners, assessment of intellectual property and technology opportunities, and verification of legal and regulatory requirements. The findings will be used to define product requirements and inform the next steps for future development.

Innovations and Perspectives

The project will strengthen the foundation for an AI-assisted approach to skin frailty assessment and support future market access in the U.S. It will provide new insights into market needs, user requirements, and regulatory pathways while establishing contacts with potential partners. In the long term, the solution could support more accessible, objective, and data-driven assessment of skin frailty for clinicians, patients, and researchers.
